What I am wearing:
Kimball dress
On sale here for under $200
My high school graduation was definitely different. We all wore the same white dress (that a classmate designed) and carried flowers (I feel prepared for all future weddings now). We also sang a song and it was amazingly nautical and perfect: "Come Sail Away" (by Styx)! Obviously we left out that weird alien part in the middle but just imagine 90 girls in white dresses (with flowers) singing Come Sail Away.
If you don't know the song, watch the video here. Here are the lyrics:
I'm sailing away, set an open course for the virgin sea
Ive got to be free, free to face the life that's ahead of me
On board, I'm the captain, so climb aboard
Well search for tomorrow on every shore
And Ill try, oh lord, Ill try to carry on
I look to the sea, reflections in the waves spark my memory
Some happy, some sad
I think of childhood friends and the dreams we had
We live happily forever, so the story goes
But somehow we missed out on that pot of gold
But well try best that we can to carry on
A gathering of angels appeared above my head
They sang to me this song of hope, and this is what they said
They said come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
Come sail away, come sail away
Come sail away with me
This is not my graduating class but I took a photo of last year's from the newsletter/annual report thingy (thanks to my mom for always sending me these!):
Those look like my high school graduation dresses!! i love your lilly dress. congrats!
ReplyDeletewait a minute.... for my high school graduation we all wore matching white dresses (we voted on one and bought it at a local dress shop) and carried red roses... did you happen to go to an Ursuline?!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! You will look lovely in lilly! (At my hs graduation we had to wear the same awful gowns as the boys and our dresses had to be shorter than our gown so it posed some issues.
ReplyDeleteI graduated high school in a white dress carrying flowers too!! Such a fun tradition. We all wore different dresses of our own choosing, mine was antique lace and I still absolutely love it. Congrats on finishing college!!
ReplyDeleteawww that looks super fun... and my graduation we all had purple robes and we decorated our hats with absolute graduate, haha xxoo
ReplyDeleteWe all wore black dresses for graduation in high school, so it was very odd for me when everyone could pick what they wanted in college.
ReplyDeleteThen you have to put that awful robe on...and die of heat stroke.
Congrats on your graduation!
ReplyDeleteLove the dress! Congratulations on graduation!!!

I went to an all-girls school and we all wore the same white dress (sold to us by a boutique owned by an alumna) and carried red roses. We didn't sing come sail away, but your post brigs back memories! :)
ReplyDeleteMy high school graduation was very similar (white dresses, roses--ours were red)! I still think it was perfect & lovely--although, like the black gown I wore for college graduation, I haven't worn the white dress since!
