Ask Nautical by Nature: How to Style a Nautical Pattern Top

Reader Kiersten wrote to me about this New York & Company nautical top. Did I think it was tacky or too much?

Hi Kiersten,
I don't think it's tacky at all! I actually had another reader send me a link to the matching dress (which appears to be sold out now) but I like the top more. I think the top would look GREAT with white pants for summer (for fun night events) or dressed down with white shorts. I also like how they have it styled with a black skirt (perfect for work). I think a patterned top is really fun and works best with sold colors and simple accessories/shoes.

    I love this top! :) A punch of pattern goes a long way. I like it best with the white pants, second would be the black pants. I don't think the other suggestions work as well. Thanks for sharing. This would be a great piece to add to my wardrobe. :)
