Next week H's grandma is coming to town so I decided to take a last minute trip to New York City. I found a great deal on flights and I'll be staying with my sister (who is temporarily living on the UES). At this point I've done most of the touristy things so I'm now looking for new ideas: stores, restaurants, tell me your favorite things to see and do in New York!
You can find recaps of my previous New York trips here (Valentine's Day!) and here (Lilly Pulitzer Martha Stewart show)
So far on my list for this trip I have:
* Cloud City at the Met (thanks for the tip, Let the Tide Pull Your Dreams Ashore)
* the High Line
* seeing some of my friends from my semester in Australia
* shopping at Uniqlo, Lilly Pulitzer, Jack Rogers, and Kate Spade
I'm on the UES! You need to see the Ivy Style exhibit at the museum at FIT! I'm going on Sat.
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like something I would love! Just bookmarked the info. Thanks!
DeleteDefinitely hit up Laduree on the east side if you haven't already, their macarons are delicious. The meat-packing district on the lower west side is a great place for nightlife- lots of fun bars and clubs and places to dress up for. Koreatown near Herald Square is an awesome place to check out for the food- there is an indoor mall of Korean food stands where you can get all kinds of Korean fare. Also, see what ballets are playing in Lincoln Center! :) Hope this helps.
ReplyDeleteI definitely want to try Laduree. They look too pretty to eat!
DeleteI also agree with Laduree. You might get stuck in a huge line, but they are totally worth it. Last time I was there I spent close to $100 on all different ones. I need to go back there soon. I hope in the next few weeks/month.
DeleteHave a lot of fun in new york!!! love lilly pulitzer - to bad they don't to europe!!
ReplyDeleteStop by C. Wonder, either in SOHO (Chobani yogurt has a shop nearby) or at Columbus Circle; if the weather is still nice, grab a bottle of wine and blanket and picnic in Central Park. Last time I was home in NY, we ate at Anejo Tequileria, which has amazing margaritas!
ReplyDeleteOh boy, I am just peanutbutter and jealousy! Have fun!, it has been way to long for me to give advice! I was there last for the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade! All I can say is shop till ya drop, in those monogrammed driving mocs!
ReplyDeleteLove and Hugs,
Mrs. Kindergarten...aka...Madame Spoiled
Go to Rockwood Music Hall. It's over in SOHO and there is no cover charge, you just have to buy a drink! There are three stages and each one has really really talented people playing! It's the little music jewel of New York if you ask me!
ReplyDeleteah! go to rice to riches!!
ReplyDeleteABC Kitchen- the food was AMAZING!! Also David Burke Kitchen in Soho was delicious, and of course shopping in Soho (my fave). High Line park and maybe hit up Chelsea Market before you go!
ReplyDeleteI've never eaten at ABC Kitchen but I did check out the home store. So cute! I will bookmark the restaurant for this trip.
DeleteYou are going to LOVE Cloud City! If you walk the High Line...stop at the Standard for a drink or bite to eat. Salted caramel and vanilla are my favorite flavors at Laduree. Have a great time! xx
ReplyDeletec wonder! and the eloise boutique!
ReplyDeleteHmm.. Laduree, definitely. If you like PB&J there is this awesome little place, called Peanut Butter and Company (they sell this brand all over the place), in SoHo. They have all different pb sandwiches in all different flavors on amazing bread. Shopping on Broadway in Soho is also really great. I love C Wonder, Zara, and Topshop. They also have a Longchamp store. I recommend Georgetown Cupcake on Mercer Street. If you get there in the early am they have a daily cupcake special and if you say the special flavor you get it for free. (Follow them on twitter to get the daily flavor). Maybe a Broadway show or going to Central Park. I think that's everything I can think of right now.
ReplyDeleteummm I LOVE peanut butter! Going to bookmark that place right now.
DeleteI always forget there's a Topshop there now!
Virgil's BBQ is amazing! You must check it out!
ReplyDeleteUm, jealous! It looks like everyone has given you great tips. I always have to take a little stroll through Central Park. Have a fantastic time!
ReplyDeleteIf you're on the UES go to Pookie and Sebastian and Alice's Teac Cup! Shopping and tea!
ReplyDeleteI don't have too many suggestions since I've only been to NYC once, but I hope you have a ton of fun! I'm super jealous because I had so much fun when I was there, can't wait to hear about your trip!
