Today I have a very special treat for you! I was able to interview
Hart of Dixie costume designer,
Meredith Markworth-Pollack! I met Meredith when I visited the Hart of Dixie set last fall. Meredith has amazing style herself
(not surprising!) and has quite the impressive background
(she worked on Gossip Girl too!). Thank you, Meredith, for taking time to answer my questions!
* I also have photos from tonight's special Halloween episode to share! Scroll down to see Fireman George, Wade in a suit, and more! *

There have been some great pops of color in Zoe’s wardrobe this season
(for example, the red/pink Sandro dress and yellow Kate Spade bag in ‘Always on My Mind’). Do you think Zoe’s style is slowly becoming less always-in-black-New Yorker and more southern Bluebell?
Meredith: I think naturally Zoe's wardrobe is evolving ever so slightly in Bluebell, however she doesn't stray too far from her New York dark palette. We've been integrating more color (especially in our late Summer/ early Fall episodes) to show a softer side to her but don't expect to see her in pastels any time soon.

Lemon is now a single girl looking for a job. Do you think her style will change at all this season as she navigates this new role?
Yes Lemon's style began a shift at the beginning of the season, she's now a single girl searching for her career path and takes both very seriously. We'll soon see her as Lavon's campaign manager and she has quite a few work looks that are still quite colorful but much more professional.

Lavon easily has the best guy style on the show
(the hats, the vests, the colored pants!). Did you always intend to have this character be stylish
(he is the mayor afterall!) or did it evolve throughout the first season?
From the beginning we wanted Lavon's style to represent his somewhat flashy retired NFL player side and from there I think it evolved into more of a Southern Dandy look. We like to have Lavon "dressed" any time he leaves the house. He's kind of like the male version of Lemon in that regard.
What stores can readers shop to get Zoe’s look for less? Lemon’s?
I'd say take advantage of the on-line resources and sales. I love Shopstyle.com to search for exactly what you are looking for and it tells you if there's a piece on sale. I'm also loving Zara.com for those who can't make it in to the store- not to mention free shipping and returns.
What trend are you most excited about incorporating into the show this season?
We're using quite a few colored trousers on both Lemon and Zoe which are incredibly fun to mix with printed blouses and peplum tops.
Which character’s style do you identify with most?
Probably Zoe because I tend to dress more on the minimalist side however I do love to entertain my feminine side and throw on a floral dress like Lemon every now and then.
Which episode has been your favorite to style?
Ep. 207 Baby Don't Get Hooked On Me is by far my favorite- Zoe and Lemon at their finest.
