Goodbye Google Reader

I was sad to hear that google reader will be shutting down July 1. That is how I have always followed and read blogs. I don't like change but hopefully I will like one of the alternatives.

You can follow Nautical by Nature via:
Blog Lovin'
Import my feed into Feedly (they have a one click Google Reader Option)
There's also The Old Reader which I haven't checked out yet but I've heard good things
By email (enter your email address in the box in the sidebar on the left of my blog)

Am I missing anything? How will you be keeping up with blogs?

Concord Button Downs nautical lookbook

Concord Button Downs worked with Jack Donnelly Khakis, Collared Greens, The Orvis Company, Lemon and Line (which I have featured on the blog before), and GameDay Blazers to compile a 100% Made in America lookbook just in time for the 4th of July. You can find more photos from this shoot over at the Concord Button Downs website.

Concord Button Down shirts are reminiscent of old school ivy league attire (collar roll, beefy oxford cloth, etc). Perfect for being handed down generation to generation! Now if I could just find a guy like this here in LA ;)

Charleston trip recap!

What a week! I didn't get to spend as much time as I wanted in Charleston but with my sister living there I know I'll be visiting a lot! We divided the drive from DC into two parts so we got to Charleston Thursday around lunch time. It was a busy afternoon helping the movers (aka me melting and staring at the cute mover) and unpacking. Of course it was the hottest day of the week and dropped down at least 10 degrees the next day. Oh well!

For dinner we went to Mellow Mushroom, quick, delicious, and just down the street from my sister's new house.
I love the backyard at the house
Friday:
Had a long overdue sleep in and then headed downtown. We had lunch at Poogan's Porch, recommended by both Andie and the Preppy Leopard. We had a relaxing lunch on the upper porch then did some shopping on King Street.
Cheesy touristy photo on the porch
For dinner we went to Rutledge Cab Co. My grilled cheese was two layers!

Saturday:
I had a blogger brunch with Kelly, Christy, and Heather at Acme Lowcountry Kitchen on Isle of Palms. I felt like we had been friends forever and we had a great time chatting about life in Charleston, blogging, celebrities, and more. Meeting blog friends in person is such a fun thing to do when traveling. I joked that I want to do a cross country road trip and visit blog friends in every state!

After brunch my sister and I headed to Boone Hall Plantation. There is so much history at Boone Hall Plantation. It is one of the country's oldest working plantations. We did the house tour, bus ride, and did a lot of walking around the grounds. You may also recognize Boone Hall as Allie's summer house in the Notebook and the place where Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds got married. After walking around and doing the tours we stopped for a quick drink and snack on our way home at Liberty Tap Room and Grill in Mount Pleasant. Get the cheese fries!
The Spanish Moss on the oak trees is just beautiful

The rest of the evening my sister unpacked and I kept her company. Since we had a late lunch we just went to the Gin Joint for drinks and soft pretzels (I didn't realize how popular these were in Charleston-I would eat them at every meal if I had the chance!)

Sunday:
My sister and I had brunch at Old Village Post House in Mount Pleasant. Hands down the best french toast I have ever had! We walked around the cute little neighborhood and then my sister took me to the airport.

SugarSNAP Files

I am a bit of an organization junkie and I was trying to figure out what to use as work now that H is potty trained and no longer needs a full on diaper bag (THANK GOD!). I usually use a small penguin Skip Hop zoo backpack (comes with a cute matching lunchbox). It's easy to bring to the park or one of our classes (I can wear it on my back but I can't put it on or take it off quickly). It's not ideal for major outings, travel, etc and I knew the parents needed something different to stay organized.

Enter SugarSNAP Me + Mine set. Let me just note that I bought this using my work credit card, this is not a sponsored post! For our flights to and from Maui I put everything into a plain black backpack from Target. Easy for mom, dad, or me to wear. The Files have breathable mesh on the front and a fun pattern on the back.

Once we got to Maui I unloaded all of the Files and we would just take what we needed before leaving our hotel room. For women you can just throw these into your purse/bag/tote. So nice not to have a separate bag! During the trip the dad would just use the backback.
I usually take the Snacks + Supplies and Shirts + Socks files in my tote if we are just running some errands

The Me + Mine set comes with blank tabs, you just add the sticker labels you want to use (there are labels for non-moms in this set too). The original set comes with files that are already labeled and is specifically for use with babies/toddlers (this is the set my sister got on my recommendation).

This is how I store the Files at home in LA. At the end of the day I restock and put everything into this small box in the playroom. Ready for the next day. Grab what you need and go!

Closeup of the labels I chose for our files

Best part: the Files come with this hook-and-ring system-attach them all to the ring or carry them separately

What I keep in the Lotions + Potions file

I can keep multiple outfits, socks, underwear and plastic bag (always come in handy!) in the Shirts + Socks file

Snacks + Supplies

I absolutely love SugarSnap! Instead of searching at the bottom of my bag for crayons or panicking that I might have forgotten extra underwear for H, I can quickly and easily find what I need!
