Nautical School Supplies/Dorm Decor

Yesterday it hit me that school is just around the corner. I went to Target and there was a mom in front of me checking things off a school supply list. Then a few hours later I was at the Container Store during a special college night. I almost lied when they asked if I was headed back to school. I think it's the only thing I really miss about being in school ;) There is nothing like getting new folders, and pens, and highlighters, and all that fun stuff for your first day of school!

What's on your current city bucket list?

Earlier this summer Leeann posted her Los Angeles bucket list. It got me thinking about the things I have always wanted to do but have never done here in Los Angeles. It's funny because I grew up in LA AND moved back after college yet there are things I have never done in the city I live in. Are you guilty of this too? What is on your bucket list for your current location?

Here is my list for Los Angeles. If you have been to Los Angeles I want to hear what you loved! And if you haven't been here then tell me what you want to do if you visit!

Hike to/around Hollywood sign
Eat a Pink's hot dog (the owners live in the neighborhood I grew up in but I've never been to Pink's)
Go to a movie at Hollywood Forever Cemetery
Go to a Laker game (or some event at Staples Center)
Go to MacArthur Park and Echo Park Lake (I see the fountains in so many TV shows and movies and think it's one of these two parks?)
Shop the flea market at the Rose Bowl
See something at Disney Concert Hall
Venice canal walk
Ride Angel’s Flight railway

Organizing: DIY Labels

I posted about organizing my linen closet and under sink area a few months ago. But I felt like something was missing. I saw this how to make your own labels post on IHeart Organizing and decided to make my own labels. I tried to match the colors of the bin to the labels.

Not as clear in photos but the "fill in" is blue and white stripes

I couldn't get it to show up in photos but the fill is pink with tiny white polka dots

It was really easy to make the labels in Excel and choose fun "fills." I then printed them out and had them laminated. I attached the labels using velcro dots. Quick, cheap, and I love the finished labels!

Summer Must: Outdoor Movies

Have you ever been to movies in the park or something similar in your city? Last week I went to see Risky Business at the Oscars Outdoors in Hollywood with my stepmom and cousin. Some of the cast and crew were there to do a Q and A before the movie. My stepmom knows the director's daughter so it was fun to hear him talk. Plus they showed an alternate ending.

Then this past Saturday night I went to see Mean Girls in West Hollywood through Street Food Cinema. Street Food Cinema is definitely more about the food-there were about ten food trucks! I had fried macaroni and cheese balls and fries from the Fry Girl and an ice cream sandwich from the Paradise Truck. Go big or go home I say!
With Kathrin and Leeann at Mean Girls

Next month I will be going to Troop Beverly Hills downtown at Grand Park.

You can also host your own backyard movie party!

Nautical Photo of the Week: Nautical Red, White and Blue Birthday Party

This week I am featuring a nautical 4th birthday party! Holly of Holly Mathis Interiors threw her son Henry a small, family party with a nautical theme.

All decorations/party supplies are from Target (Spritz brand). I found the anchor cupcake toppers and lobster napkins at my local Target but they definitely did NOT have the adorable anchor plates! Did anyone else find the anchor plates?
