My LA Favorites

It's always hard to be objective in posts like this. There are so many things I've never done in LA, restaurants I want to try, places to go. We aren't always the best at being tourists in our own cities! But here is a quick guide of what I like to do in Los Angeles

SEE:
The Getty Villa (read about my visit here)
Griffith Observatory
Hike/walk up to the Hollywood sign (I still haven't done this. I tried to drive up there with friends in high school and it was total disaster. Next time I am just walking!)
See a show at the Hollywood Bowl (essential during the summer)
Walk around the Venice Canals
Studio tour (I'm not sure which one is the best but if you like movies/tv you have to do at least one. I still want to see the Friends set)

EAT:
Brunch at One Pico at Shutters on the Beach (read about my visit here)
Pizza at 800 Degrees then walk over to Diddy Riese for dessert
Other restaurants I love: Madeo, Toscana (can you tell I love Italian?), Rush Street, Poquito Mas (this is a chain but it is delicious!)
Best brunch: Jack n' Jills, Toast, John O' Groats, More than Waffles (worth heading into the valley for)
Best hotdogs: Marty's (I have now tried Pink's and Marty's is still my favorite)

SHOP:
The Grove (and the original farmers market)
Brentwood Country Mart
Melrose Trading Post (flea market) at Fairfax High School (on Sundays)

KIDS:
Petersen Automotive Museum
La Brea Tar Pits
Natural History Museum (H loves to take the Expo line from Culver City to the museum)
Kidspace Children's Museum (right next to the Rose Bowl)

  1. This makes me miss LA so much :( It's such a fun city to live in with so much to do. I am literally counting the seconds until we can move back!

  2. great picks! if you are in the Venice area you need to stop at Oscar's Cervateca for brunch. It's SO YUMMY and has one of the best miceladas I have ever had

    1. That is crazy! But there are so many LA things I've never done either. Sometimes it's harder than you think to be a tourist in your own city!

  5. Can we please knock some of these things out? It's pathetic I haven't been to half of these places. I LIVED IN HOLLYWOOD AND NEVER WENT TO THE SIGN OR TAR PITS! Sorry caps were totally necessary lol. Never seen the Venice canals, tried half of those restaurants...
If I come visit then we'll both have a reason to do these activities. Let's book something now :)

    1. I think I only went to the tar pits on field trips for school. Haven't been back in years.

We need to finally hike to the sign. And then go walk around the canals

    1. I would love to! I think they only do tours on week days? I will look into it. That would be a fun blogger outing!
