Reader Lauren emailed me looking for nautical storage options for her two year old's playroom. Lauren is transforming their finished basement into a playroom for her son. The walls are gray and she wants to add red, navy, and white nautical touches. Lauren is specifically looking for bins for toys, stuffed animals, art supplies, etc and she needs them to be large to hold train sets, multiple sets of blocks, and everything else that comes along with toddlers! You can see how I have organized the playroom at my work house here
Striped cube storage with rope handles, Land of Nod, $13 for small size or $20 for large size
7 different colors available including red and grey! I love the idea of having a few red and a few navy in both sizes |
Anchor canvas bin (also available in a turquoise gingham pattern), Unison, $38
these are perfect for smaller items |
Here is an example of the bins being used in a child's room |
Threshold striped storage bin, Target, $20
Description says "Clownfish Orange" but it looks red to me |
Whale jute bin, Land of Nod, $20
other designs available: yellow chick and pink bunny |
Strapped for storage bins, Land of Nod, $20 for small, $25 for medium, $29 for large
Navy twisted seagrass baskets, Pottery Barn Kids, $49 for medium or $69 large
Abaca basket, Pottery Barn Kids, $44
Blue raffia basket, Pottery Barn Kids, $34 for medium or $44 for large
3 Sprouts toy chest, Diapers.com, $35
My sister bought this for the baby's room to hold extra diapers, wipes, baby supplies. H has one of these (the jaguar) in his room to hold stuffed animals. They hold a lot but are not as sturdy as the 3 Sprouts storage bins (which I LOVE) |
Circo two toned fabric bin, Target, $7
these are similar to the ClosetMaid Cubeicals that I use in H's playroom |

So glad you posted this! I have the 3 Sprouts toy chest. I love it too, but I wish it was a little thicker as the toys seems to push out the sides. The Land of Nod ones look like a try. Did you see on the Land of Nod website, the lobster bedding for crib!
ReplyDeleteI wish it was thicker too. I love the 3 Sprouts bins and think they hold up a bit better.
DeleteI think the striped Land of Nod ones are the best option-durable, available in multiple sizes and colors, and not too expensive.
I did see the lobster bedding! So cute!
